πŸ’° Income Report: March 2020

By on

March sales were negatively impacted by the Coronavirus of 2020, and Amazon Merch even had to close down temporarily. Fortunately I diversify my income streams!.

Amazon FBA

Sales: 1,450
Revenue: $30,040.01
Profit: $4,918.10
Gross Margin: 16%
2020 πŸ’° Profit to Date: $15,765.66

My FBA sales were going strong in the first half of March, only to (predictably) tail off in the back-half.

This is why I preach diversification of income streams!

For instance, since we're already paying for a Professional Seller Central account, we might as well get a GTIN exemption & use it to sell print on demand products also!

Most profitable Amazon SKus in March 2020

* click to expand

My most profitable SKUs haven't been shuffled around yet, but my guess is that next month they will be.

This will likely be due to the fact that my best seller SKUs are all a part of a brand that sells mostly to small businesses.

(Businesses that have likely closed the doors at their physical retail store locations for the time being...)

And here's my Campaign Manager statistics from Seller Central:

march 2020 campaign manager stats
  • Spend: $492.98 $737.88 MoM
  • Sales: $2,154.52 $826.68 MoM
  • ACoS: 22.88% 18.41% MoM

After re-optimizing my keyword bids last month, I saw a reduction of ACoS.

I again re-optimized by keywords when I went through this income report, as my bids were higher than necessary in many spots. In some cases, I actually turned off advertising campaigns altogether (mainly in AMS).

Amazon Merch CLOSED!

Well, their United States fulfillment centers did, and it may only be a matter of time until the European locations follow suit.

I was actually having a pretty decent month up until mid-march when sales seemed to fall off a cliff.

My guess is Merch may have been tapering off slowly & not showing as many listings in search results.

(Or people diverted their spare funds from buying novelty t-shirts and spent it on toilet paper instead!)

Nevertheless, with Merch closed a new MASSIVE opportunity opened up on Amazon, for those of us agile enough to take advantage.

I go into more depth in this video:

In summary: Now is an incredible opportunity to sell print on demand through the Printful + Amazon Seller Central integration.

Amazon KDP

Sales: 72
Profit: $133.11
Avg. Royalty: $1.85
2020 πŸ’° Profit to Date: $512.18

March 2020 KDP Profit

$133.11 of profit was generated on 72 sales @ an average royalty of $1.85 per paperback book.

Short & sweet: KDP sales were down this month.

For what it's worth, I didn't upload as much as I would've liked to. I was definitely guilty of putting the "evolution" of my KDP strategy on the wayside while I pursued more profitable money-making opportunities this month.

I run a few popular websites where I collect advertising revenue via Google Ads (formerly Google AdSense). I also collect revenue via direct partnerships with advertisers & from affiliate links, but for times sake, I'm going to omit those deals.

I won't be doing month-to-month write ups here because I don't spend much time maintaining these websites. They started out as passion projects that allowed me to become a better web developer, but today I spend very little time working on them.

Investing

Many people think that "investing" means putting money into the stock market & making money when it goes up.

Fewer know that you can also make money when markets go DOWN!

(I'm amongst that minority)

I took advantage of this knowledge in the month of March to the tune of:
