* sales data from JungleScout Sales AlayticsRevenue remained high, lead by the big investment I put into launching my new brand's 7 SKUs.
Most notably, my monthly FBA revenue surprassed my Merch revenue for the first time!
Unfortunately, as I mentioned in the December 2017 income report, profit margins were dragged down due to the high costs associated with launching the new brand.
Still, $3285.42 of profit is nothing to scoff at, but I was eyeing higher profit margins in the future.
I should mention that I had a single SKU generate $4,386 of revenue and only $324 profit (haha). There were definitely some "learning lessons" along the way - this being one of them.
This month's lesson being: Over-sized, high-dollar ($100+) products run the risk of being dragged down by high shipping + return costs, ultimately crushing their margins.

* sales data from PrettyMerch ProJanuary 15th, 2018 was a terrible day for everyone selling on Amazon Merch.
Why you ask? Well, Amazon casually decided to increase their baseline margin for each shirt sale, as well as increase their % cut from each sale.
Prior to the 15th, a shirt sold for $19.99 netted you a cool $7.19. After the 15th, just $5.38... a straight-up 25% reduction in raw profit.
There's really nothing we can do as sellers other than deal with it and move onward. That said, they also began enabling sweatshirts & hoodies on eligible accounts, which was a nice change of pace!

Sales were steady, headlined by the FBA mugs that were still in stock.
I ended up ordering more FBA mugs (based on the Q4 holiday sales spike) which would later prove to be a mistake, as sales would soon slow down dramatically.

* data from Google AdsI run a few popular websites where I collect advertising revenue via Google Ads (formerly Google AdSense). I also collect revenue via direct partnerships with advertisers & from affiliate links, but for times sake, I'm going to omit those deals.
I won't be doing month-to-month write ups here because I don't spend much time maintaining these websites. They started out as passion projects that allowed me to become a better web developer, but today I spend very little time working on them.
