Weeks ago I had a 1 on 1 call w/ the CEO of Printful: Davis Siksnans.
It was an awesome opportunity and I did my best to get as much valuable information out of him.
...even though he requested the call to try and get info out of me!

A few quick notes about what we discussed:
- He was very bullish on Etsy's marketplace
- He recommended selling some of the more niche items Printful offers, like backpacks for back to school & crop tops for the summer
- And he recommended selling print on demand on two marketplaces that I wasn't on: Wish & Poshmark
I've had a slow start on Wish thus far, but I'll save info about that for a different day.
Here are some notes about my experience selling print on demand on Poshmark.
Creating Poshmark Product Listings
There is no Printful + Poshmark integration.
As a result, all listings must be created manually, and all order fulfillment must be done manually.
This obviously isn't ideal when our goal is create scalable passive income streams... but if the sales are there, I'm willing to roll of my sleeves and do some manual white-collar labor.
Which brings me to my next point...
Sales Volume Selling POD on Poshmark
I listed about 12 of my current best sellers on Poshmark, manually.
By the way - creating product listings on their site was very easy & quick.
(As a web developer I always appreciate that kind of attention to detail, & love my efficiencies)
Anyways, creating the listings didn't take long... but getting my first sale did.
My First Poshmark Sale
After maybe up to 1 month, I finally did get that first sale.
Hi [OMITTED] Awesome news - you just sold [OMITTED] on Poshmark! High fives all around.
To fulfill this sale and receive your pre-paid, pre-addressed shipping label, please provide some additional information on the order page by opening the Poshmark App or website and going to Account Tab ? My Sales ? order sold.
In an effort to connect you with even more people who love your closet, we've allowed a limited number of guest Poshers. As always, all Poshmark orders, including any sales made to guest Poshers will be fully protected by Poshmark, so you can ship with confidence.
In order to provide the best customer service, Poshmark expects our sellers to ship their sales within 2 days. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Happy Poshing!
I wasn't running any paid ads on their site, and I don't know if print on demand products are a good fit for the Poshmark audience.
The word "Posh" is in the name of their brand, which doesn't exactly align with most POD listings:
POSH: Elegant or stylishly luxurious.
I listed a few Printful hats, so it didn't exactly fit the bill.
Either way... once I got my first sale, I was (unpleasantly) surprised that Poshmark, which already charges pretty high fees, forces you to buy a shipping label through them.
BUT
We already have to pay Printful to ship the product from their warehouse, and there's no way to send Printful the Poshmark shipping label...
The result?
To sell print on demand on Poshmark, you have to buy multiple shipping labels.
I confirmed it with Poshmark support:
Hi Ryan,
Thank you for writing to us and Congratulations on your first sale! We understand that you would like to use another method of shipment. However, we would like to remind you that it is required that our shipping labels are used for every order because it allows our system to track the package and take care of any issues that may arise while it is in transit to the buyer. If our label is not used, we are unable to offer insurance on the package and your earnings will not be automatically released within 72 hours of delivery.
We hope this clears your concern. Please let us know if we can be of any other assistance.
Thank you and Happy Poshing!
Best,
[OMITTED]
My response was something along the lines of:
"Thanks for your response, please refund that customer order & close my account".
(Which is also why I can't provide as many screenshots as I'd normally like to with this blog post.)
Poshmark Product Pricing
Poshmark's pricing is misleading.
First of all, they took a 20% referral fee, which is in line with the high-end that Amazon might charge in some categories.
$21.60 ÷ $27.00 = 20%
From my remaining margin, I have to pay Printful for the product + shipping...
And I have to pay Poshmark for a shipping label.
So I'd be making maybe $1-$2 per sale, after all is said and done.
Hence why I pretty much immediately asked their support to cancel my seller account. No thank you!
