Brand Registry

Enrolling in Amazon's Brand Registry helps to protect your private label brand and also lets you use enhanced brand content on your product listings.

Every Amazon FBA seller selling priate label products under their own brand should be enrolled in Amazon's Brand Registry.

The primary benefit is the ability to fend off hijackers looking to capitalize on your success by sending imitation products in to Amazon, claiming that they're the same as your branded products.

Unfortunately this most likely isn't going away any time soon and needs to be taken seriously.

It also allows you to use Enhanced Brand Content on your product listings which I've heard has increased conversion rates by as much as 5%.

The biggest barrier of entry for sellers wanting to enroll in Brand Registry is that Amazon requires that an active Trademark be filed on your brand name.

Here are your options for getting that trademark filed:

  • File yourself (manually): Cost a few hundred dollars to file yourself (but it will likely take you quite some time).
  • File yourself (wizard): Trademark filing wizards like Trademarkia make it relatively straightforward to file a trademark, but it'll cost you around 2x as much than if you were to file manually.
  • Hire a lawyer: Everyone loves lawyers! /sarcasm I reached out to a family friend who has been a practicing Trademark attorney for decades and he quoted me something like $200 for the research process (which takes 2 seconds) & around $800 to file.

I have a few lawyers in my close family, so I use them for filing my trademarks. My recommendation would be to try out Trademarkia if you're not as fortunate.

One you have the trademark, you're ready to enroll!

Enrolling in Amazon Brand Registry

Now that you have your trademark, head over to Amazon's Brand Registry website & click "Get started" > "Enroll Now" > "United States" > "Enroll a new brand".

It's a 3-step process to enroll now, so follow along and you'll be done in no time.

  1. Confirm your brand eligibility

  2. Provide your trademark - Design marks will need to upload the file that matches your USPTO record
